Project Summery

For this project we were tasked with rehabbing a house that was damaged during a fire. The structural integrity of the house was sound, but the fire did damage to three floors of the house.

The fire started in the basement and burned through first floor bathroom floor, damaged the basement steps, burned up through a closet and into the attic. There was also smoke damage throughout the house. Our job was to completely gut the home, clean up the smoke damage and make repairs to the damaged structure.

Project Challenges

The biggest challenge during this project was working with the insurance companies claims adjuster. We had to constantly justify costs and repairs while still trying to give the homeowner what they wanted. Our goal in every project is to have the homeowner be happy with the final product. We also had to justify the added cost of repairs the county inspectors required to meet building codes.

Another challenge was the smoke stains we had to deal with on the white siding. After paying a cleaning company to try and remove them, with a poor outcome, we decided to strip the exterior and reside the entire home. Once again, our goal was to make the client happy and give them the best possible experience.
